Bill Self wasn't joking during his 2008 Final pre-game pep talk saying, 'I want to thank you in advance for tonight, this is going to be a game that you'll remember for the rest of your lives.'

The KU Jayhawks KU won the 2008 NCAA Tournament in overtime over Memphis 75-68. With two minutes to go, Kansas was 9 points down and it seemed as if their tournament dreams were gone forever.

Memphis players Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Robert missed five of their six free throw attempts in the last minutes of regulation, allowing the Jayhawks to be within three.

As KU fans screamed and prayed, Mario Chalmers hits a three point bomb to tie with 2.1 seconds on the clock. KU kept the dream alive and the championship games goes into overtime.

KU looked impressive in OT with Brandon Rush, Darrell Arthur and Darnell Jackson scoring the first six points of overtime to put Kansas ahead 69-63 with 2:30 left in the game. Chalmers hit two free throws with 45.1 left and put KU at 73-68. Sherron Collins sunk the final two free throws with 18.2 left. Memphis, without essential player Joey Dorsey never regained the lead as KU went on to win 75-68.

This is the fourth tournament win for KU, and the first since Danny Manning lead the Jayhawks to victory in 1988.

KU cancelled classes on Tuesday and reports said people were still celebrating on Massachusetts until 8am the next morning.
