The World's Largest Elvis Parade: It's pretty much proof that the King isn't dead. Believe it or not,
Kansas City hosts the 'World's Largest Annual Elvis Parade' at Barney 'Elvis' Plaza on August 17th. What started out as a fun event to celebrate Elvis' death on August 16th, has turned into a full on fun yearly event. 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of the Elvis Parade downtown.
The King Isn't Dead: Whether you're an Elvis fan, work downtown, or feel like screaming "Long Live the King"- the Elvis Parade is something to be seen. Grab your sideburns and head to Barney Allis Plaza--I've never been to anything quite like it. From super crazy floats, felt wall coverings and Elvis himself, to renditions of 'You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog'-- Barney Allis eerily makes you belive that maybe there is some truth in those almost 30+ years of Elvis sightings.
Elvis Parade Event Info: Where: Barney Allis Plaza, East of Bartle Hall and the convention center, one block east of Broadway on 12th Street.
Time:The fun starts at 10:30am, parade at 12pm. Elvis impersantion contest following the parade.
Parking:There is underground parking located below Barney Allis. Enter the garage from Wyandotte Street or Central Street between 12th and 13th (parking fills up fast!). The 12th Street Garage (west of the Folly Theater) is another great spot.
