Download Mr. Stinky Feet's Latest Album

Tuesday May 13, 2008
Since I've had a child, I've become quite a fan of Kansas City's Mr. Stinky Feet (aka Jim Cosgrove). His tunes are catchy, children love him and no matter how many times my daughter listens to his songs, I still love them (unlike the Doodlebops).

After 10 years of capturing audiences with short attention spans, Mr. Stinky Feet releases his 'Upside Down' album. To celebrate, you can log onto the Mr Stinky Feet website and download the new album for whatever you think is a fair price - $5, $10. $15, or FREE! The downloads runs from May 20th - June 3rd, 2008.

Oakhill Day School Treasure Sale to Help Tornado Ruined School

Monday May 12, 2008
Although the destruction and damage due to last week's tornado has been horrific for everyone involved, not much has been said about the Northland's Oakhill Day School and the loss of their library (and most of their books), computer lab, playground, and much, much more.

The school will hold its annual Treasure sale with all proceeds going to repair the damage done by the F2 tornado that went directly over the school last week. The sale, which is usually held in the school's gym will be in the former Hobby Lobby space at I-29 and 64th Street, across from McDonald's.

The school is accepting tax deductible donations today (5/12) and tomorrow (5/13) from 9am-1pm and are looking for gently used items... everything from clothing and furniture to sporting items and toys.

What: Oakhill Day School Treaure Sale
When: Thursday, May 15: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday, May 16: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Who is John Felix?

Friday May 9, 2008
While traveling through downtown today, I passed a few protesters which I thought was a bit strange but smart considering all the downtown David Cook media attention today.  Then, sitting across the street was this chilling sign.

Stamp Out Hunger KC... this Saturday

Thursday May 8, 2008
Amid various bills, the Valpak, and a bunch of junk mail, I received a postcard today from the National Association of Letter Carriers regarding their 'Stamp Out Hunger' food drive. Now, today is Thursday (5/8) and the food drive is this Saturday (5/10) so it seems pretty obvious that that the NALC is a bunch of procrastinators, which could be why my US Weekly always shows up a week late.

Anyway, the food drive is a great idea and super easy. Just put some non-perishable food items in a bag by your mailbox and voila! it gets delivered to local food banks. They just ask that you do not include expired items (because hungry people don't like stale food) or anything in a glass container.

What: Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
When: Saturday, May 10th, 2008
How to Donate: Leave non-perishable food items by your mailbox

Let's hope my neighbors don't decide to go grocery shopping.

More on David Cook...

Thursday May 8, 2008
It seems like a lot of people really want to get a glimpse of David Cook, so here are the details sent to us:

David will be playing a few songs at Sunfresh in Westport at 9:30am.

Then he will perform at the Power and Light for FREE at 11:30am.

Then if that's not enough, he'll be carted off to Blue Springs for a parade and another performance (see below).

Looks like we'll all have our David Cook fix for a while.

Do you think he has what it takes to win? Will you vote just because he's from KC? Post your comments here.

David Cook Day, Parade and Concert in KC?

Wednesday May 7, 2008
With Jason choaking and forgetting the words last night on American Idol, it looks as though KC native David Cook has a pretty good chance of making it into the final three contestants, if not the final two. David sang 'Hungry Like a Wolf' ala Duran Duran and 'Baba O'Riley' last night with decent praise from Randy, Paula Crazy and Simon.

Friday, May 9th is 'David Cook Day' in Blue Springs with a parade, official visits, and a free concert (tickets are already sold out, duh).

According to myfoxkc.com

Parade & Concert Schedule:
3:00 p.m. - parade starts at Stewart Title Co. at 700 NE Mize Road.
Parade route: south for three or four blocks across 40 Highway to Blue Springs South High School
3:30 p.m. - rally and concert in the Blue Springs South High School football stadium
4:45 p.m. - concert ends

Cook is also reported to have a noon concert, but the locale has not been disclosed as of today.

Is it weird that all this hoopla is happening and he hasn't been voted off yet? Are the other Idol's doing the same in their hometown's?

KU Jayhawks Autograph Signing at Metro North Mall

Tuesday May 6, 2008
So I'm not exactly a fan of the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball champions, but someone in my household is a superfan of the Jayhawks. This lifelong love of the rock-chalk is why I'll be drug to Metro North Mall on Friday (5/9) to see the likes of Sasha Kaun, Russell Robinson, Darnell Jackson, Jeremy Case and Roderick Stewart.

Pete's Sports will be holding the event from 6-8pm and according to the MNM website, more players may be added before the event date.

Tickets ate $10.00 per autograph (!) and are available in advance at Pete's Sports on the lower level of Metro North Mall.

Call 816-468-8887 for more info.
